What to send

  1. The folio number and the address of the account. One account per message; do not batch.
  2. The figure you think is wrong, quoted exactly as the entry states it, with its unit and its period.
  3. The document that contradicts it, as a link to a specific publication — not a home page and not a search result.
  4. Whether you want the figure changed or the disagreement recorded. Both are useful and they are different edits.

If the document is specific and it contradicts the entry, the figure changes, the period is noted and a recast mark is added. If the documents genuinely disagree with each other, the disagreement is recorded rather than resolved, and it is recorded as an entry with the two positions side by side and the fiscal years on both. If the document cannot be opened, nothing changes and you are told why.

What will not happen

  • No entry will be changed to a figure that has no document behind it, however plausible it is.
  • No definition will be reworded to look fresh.
  • No vendor will be recommended, in either direction.
  • No erratum will be applied anonymously to an entry about somebody's budget.
